Years later, an evil man finds the Butterfly and Peacock Miraculous and becomes Papillon, manipulating people's negative emotions to turn them into supervillains. To fight Papillon, Wang Fu entrusts the two most powerful Miraculous to Marinette and Adrien. Marinette, in the guise of Ladybug, is a girl passionate about fashion, while Adrien, alias Chat Noir, is the son of a famous international designer. The two fight against Papillon's akumatized people, unaware of each other's secret identity and trapped in a tangle of complicated feelings. The series explores the dynamics of the relationships between the characters as they face challenges both as superheroes and as ordinary teenagers. Marinette is secretly in love with Adrien, who in turn is secretly attracted to Ladybug. The struggles of the two boys become more and more intertwined with their daily lives and with the mystery surrounding Papillon and other key characters in the story.
