''Doc McStuffins'' is an American animated television series for preschool children, created and produced by Chris Nee and produced by Brown Bag Films, broadcast on Disney Channel and Disney Junior from March 23, 2012 to April 18, 2020. The series revolves around a girl capable of ''repairing'' toys, with the help of her toy friends, and features songs written and composed by Kay Hanley and Michelle Lewis. The series received positive reviews for the series' concept and main character, as well as for representation of African Americans (Nee stated in 2013 that Doc is African American, as proposed by Disney during his initial pitch; Nee initially only knew he wanted a girl Doctor) in a Disney series. Nee conceived the series as Cheers for preschoolers. When he activates his magical stethoscope, he can create a variety of supernatural effects, including time travel. Its most common use on TV is to make toys, dolls and stuffed animals come to life. They can move, talk, sing songs, reach for objects, hear, see and smell, and you can interact with them. With the help of her soft toys: Stuffy the Dragon; Hallie the Hippo; Lambie the Lamb; and Chilly the Snowman. Doc helps the toys get better or ''feel better'' by giving them checkups and diagnosing their imaginary illnesses with an encyclopedia called ''The Big Book of Boboli'' and another encyclopedia called ''The Big Book of the Vet'' when she is a veterinarian. In the fourth season, the Big Book of Boboli and the Big Book of the Veterinarian become hi-tech in the form of tablets. Each 11-minute episode includes original songs. During the closing credits of the first season, Doc gives viewers advice on how to stay healthy. Seasons 1 and 2 have the original introduction for the theme song, but in the third season, the line Doc says at the end of the theme song was rerecorded with Doc's new voice. In the third season, Doc opens a veterinary clinic to treat the toy animals in addition to the regular medical services he offers to the other toys. In the fourth season, Doc's grandmother reveals her magical stethoscope and teleports her and Doc to McStuffinsville, a magical town populated by living toys, placing Doc in charge of the McStuffinsville hospital. In season five, Doc and his toys create the McStuffinsville Animal Rescue Team, where they work together to save pets in need, led by his stuffed dragon Stuffy, who is a great pet vet.
