''Despicable Me'' is a 2010 animated film directed by Pierre Coffin and Chris Renaud, produced by Illumination. Equipped with a series of ingenious contraptions, Gru enjoys performing mischief and seeing people suffer. However, his ''evil'' has roots in the past, mainly due to his mother's upbringing. The plot develops when Gru learns of the theft of the Great Pyramid of Cheops by another mysterious villain and decides to carry out an even greater theft. ambitious: to steal the Moon. To do so, he must obtain a shrink ray, which is essential to his plan. He then meets Vector, another supervillain who has stolen the shrink ray. Despite his dislike of Vector, Gru realizes that he must work with him to recover the beam. The situation becomes further complicated when Gru decides to adopt three orphans, Margo, Edith and Agnes, as part of his plan. As he tries to complete the theft of the Moon, Gru finds himself increasingly involved in the lives of the three girls, discovering a softer side of himself that he didn't believe he had. His priority gradually shifts from criminal actions to the well-being of the girls. However, Vector kidnaps the girls to blackmail Gru, forcing him to trade the Moon for their freedom. After a series of adventures, Gru manages to save the girls and defeat Vector. Over the course of the story, Gru transforms from a supervillain to a loving father, giving up his life of crime to dedicate himself completely to the three girls.
