The series follows the adventures of Son Goku, now an adult and married to Chi-Chi, with whom he has two children: Son Gohan and Son Goten. The plot develops as the number of opponents and battles increases, leading to a move away from the quest for the Dragon Balls, a central theme in Dragon Ball. The narrative spans 22 years, from the Raditz saga to Goku's departure to train Uub at the Tenkaichi Tournament. Dragon Ball Z has achieved great success, spawning 15 films, OVAs, television specials, video games and a card game. It won the 2006 Best Anime Video Awards, and a 2006 poll deemed it the most memorable TV series. Goku has been called the best anime hero and in 2010, in a survey by Cool Japan, the Dragon Ball animated series received the highest ratings for international distribution.
